The goal of the LMS Review Working Group is to recommend a solution that meets the various e-Learning needs within the College community and reduces the number of products being supported.

After the final decision has been made (Winter 2009), Mohawk will role into a complementary but separate phase of its overall e-Learning strategy, the system implementation. Key elements of this will be the responsibility of the I.T. Division, including hardware and software purchases, installation, and the integration of the system with the College student information system.

Of equal importance is the managed migration of user activity from other systems to the new system. This is the responsibility of e-Learning Services, of the Centre for Teaching & Learning. Central to this is systems administration training, planning involving course and data migration, partnering with Schools and departments to develop service agreements, and the development and delivery of faculty end-user training and education.

Whatever the outcome or final decision of the College, it is our intention to manage a phased and customised transition into the new system, and any existing systems will remain operational until, at least, September 2010.

The L.M.S. Academic Transition Plan, currently under consultation through the Office of the Vice-President, Academic, is to be the guiding document. We will make more information available regarding the LMS implementation as it comes available.
